This is my new favorite place in Salado! Since the re-opening, everything is so much better! The space/layout, the atmosphere, the menu, the food…the food is delicious! Their house made ranch is refreshing and yummy, their iced tea is fresh, their mac n cheese - so good. Everything we had was really good. I had the market fish - delicious. Others in my family had chicken fried steak (they loved it), cheeseburger (loved), and we shared the apple dumpling dessert. It was so unique and very tasty! Loved it so much we’re going back for lunch today.

The team at the Stagecoach Inn Restaurant did a fantastic job hosting our family's luncheon after my father's funeral service. They were extremely accommodating of our party in one of the historical rooms. It was set up on time, well decorated, and ready for us when we came in. The food was excellent, from Chicken Fried Steak to Salads and even the Hamburgers. Their wait staff was great, ensuring our glasses were always full and our orders were accurate. The desserts were great, from the Apple Dumpling to the Key Lime Cheesecake. Their online system made it easy to coordinate and plan our event. Their staff were caring and accommodating of our needs. I recommend hosting an event at the Stagecoach Restaurant or just stopping in for a meal. We've celebrated much family history at the oldest restaurant in Texas. We are so glad that this historical restaurant is open for Texans to enjoy.

Newly renovated, I personally liked the old restaurant but the new one has a lot more room. First time we came in the service was excellent, second time was not good. Food is always hot and the old hush puppy recipe was way better. But overall the food is good, the apple dumpling was sooo tasty!

Great, well lit place with delicious food! Our waitress was incredibly nice and accommodating. Two in our party had the chicken fried chicken, and both loved it. I had the tomato bisque soup with the three cheese grilled cheese, and the soup was absolutely amazing. My only complaint is that the bread on the grilled cheese was pretty thick, so it didn't have a great bread:cheese ratio. I would definitely come back for a bowl of the bisque!

Pros: Food. Amazing. Chicken fry was perfect. Cons: bartender was over worked and unable to tender the bar. Management issue for sure. He was great but couldn't get help from other staff.

Yes it's sad they didn't bring back the strawberry kiss. We had a huge party and we've been going there for years. That was something everyone in our party mentioned. We're thrilled that they are keeping the restaurant going and it looks like much of the hotel is back in business. The food was very good. I have to ding them on the salads. We had six salads with grilled chicken. It's a standard order. They brought out all the food, but no chicken on the salads. They said 5 minutes for the chicken. It was about more than 5. The chicken was very good when it did arrive and there was a lot of chicken!! They had only one full-time server for our party. She was doing the best she could, but she only had help bringing out the food. We would have been better off if they'd left tea and water pitchers in the room or told us they were available close by. The food was good. The hush puppies are there still and they were great. The goat cheese with toast was delicious. It's a nice appetizer. The burgers got good compliments. The desserts are HUGE!! Everyone loved the carrot cake. The chocolate silk pie was also delicious. The apple turnover also got great raves. We're already talking about bringing back our gang. I hope they work out the serving kinks (and bring back the kiss)!!! It's such a wonderful location and a beautiful old restaurant. Also love the nod to the local artist scene. They have one of the bluebonnet pictures that was such a large part of that original art community.

Spacious restaurant in historic setting. They have many tables, booths, and bar stools with an island bar at the center of the dining room, the kitchen open at one end and a mirror at the other end. We tried the grilled cheese and the patty melt. Their sample hush puppies were good, and the glazed carrots were especially good. We look forward to trying other specialties and their happy hour when we return. The restaurant is located on the West side of the main North South road through town, right across from the local museum. They have lodgings and an evening bar in back as well as a gift shop to the side. It was fun to walk around the grounds after eating and see the historical markers. There is free parking available on surrounding streets.
